The Muscovites are Coming

Today, the museum is proud to post a piece that has been a long time coming. We’ve completed and opened the exhibit on the Imperial Order of Muscovites! This fraternal group is one of the most interesting we’ve ever come across. Not only do we have a fez to show you, but we also are providing a history of the order. Check out the new exhibit – we’re sure you’re going to love it!

Fezological Forecast

Our fezological findings continue, as we bring you three new pieces to the museum.

First up, we have the addition of a really nice DOKK fez that is rendered entirely in bullion (with a 3d tiger no less!) This piece is unlike any other DOKK fez we’ve seen, so it’s sure to please!

Then, you can take a gander at the latest in our collection of Unknown Fezzes – Muezzin, Phila. We have no idea what this fez relates to, other than it comes from Philadelphia and was manufactured in that city. If you can provide any information on the hat, it’d be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, we added a an update to the United Commercial Travelers exhibit, in the form of the Ancient Mystic Order of Bagmen of Bagdad (sic.) This fun group, which is part of the United Commercial Travelers, has an all too familiar Arab theme, but mixes it with some insurance sales for its members.

On a final note, the museum has come into possession of one the rarest fezzes out there – an Imperial Order of Muscovites fez. We are taking extra time to prepare this exhibit, as it will include links to articles and other documents that show the history of this wacky and short lived fraternal order. Check back to see when we post it!

Falling for Fezzes

Thanks to the folks over at Fez-o-rama for this great cartoon!

As the fall season approaches, the fez business has picked up a bit. Today we’re bringing you a couple of updates to the Museum, but we still have at least three more pieces to be added. It’s nice to have the collection growing at such a pace and we enjoy sharing it with you!

Our two updates for today show variations in design from some very familiar groups. First, we have a nice Al Malaikah Shrine Band fez. Al Malaikah is one the most renowned Shrines in the world and we’re happy to be able to finally add a fez from the organization to the collection.

Next up we have alternate color scheme on a Knights of Pythias fez. It provides a nice contrast to the piece we already had in the collection and continues to fill in some of the smaller niches in the collection.

We’ve got our eyes on a couple nice pieces floating around at auction and other places. We hope to be able to bring them to you very soon!

Beasts of Burden

Well hello there intrepid reader!

As promised, we have some more updates for our Museum!

First, take a stroll over to the AMOS exhibit and check out the new Past Grand Monarch fez that was recently acquired. This piece would have belonged to an officer of a local “Sanctorum” and shows the progression of tassel colors as a member rises in authority within the group.

Once you’re finished there, check out the new Elks Fez we added. Having belonged to Quaker City Lodge No. 720, this piece is quite old, but is still in amazing shape. This is the kind of history we love to find!

Since our last update, we’ve stumbled upon a few more fezzes, so more updates are due in!

We’re back!

It’s been a busy summer for the folks over at the Fez Musuem. Sometimes work gets in the way of play, making less time for updates. However, we’ve managed to complete some upgrades to the site (most notably a change to the layout and look.) We hope you like it and that it makes for a better viewing experience. Also, we’ve recently acquired four new fezzes for the collection. We’ll be posting these over the next couple of weeks.

To celebrate our triumphant return, we present to you an update to an old exhibit and a completely new one as well! Check out the great (and old) Sciots Pyramid No. 40 fez that was donated to the museum. This piece even came with a rare Past Toparch’s jewel. It’s a neat addition that we think you’ll really like!

Next, check out the new exhibit over in the Masonic Youth Groups area for the new Job’s Daughters International fez. This is the first fez we’ve seen for this group and while it may not be the sturdiest piece, it does fill a distinct niche for us.

Thanks for checking in and don’t forget to stop back in the next few weeks for more updates!
