Summer Fezzin’ Fun

HatShopFezHi there loyal fez fan! We have some awesome updates for you today, so let’s dive right in!

First up is a new mystery to the museum, a purple fez with the word Fashoda written on it. Is it a Shrine piece? Is it from another fraternal organization? Take a look and let us know what you think!

Next is a new exhibit from the Greek American Progressive Association, or GAPA. This hat was donated to us by the fine folks at the Cambridge Masonic Temple Museum and we are really excited to share it with you, so check it out!

Lastly, we’ve obtained another fez from the Nuwabian religious sect, this time in green. If you have any information on what the different fez colors from this group mean, we’d love to know!

Thanks for checking in and we hope you have a great (and cool) summer!

Keep on Fezzing

fezcatWell, hello there! It’s been a bit since our last update. We found that we had failed to respond to several requests for information (which are now responded to.) Work has been keeping us busy, leaving us less time for fezzing. But, fear not – we’re back with an update and four new fezzes for the collection!

First, swing by the Ancient Mystic Order of Bagmen of Bagdad (sic) area and see a rare members fez, in white and blue. From there, check out updates to the Oriental Order of Humility and Perfection page (a new members fez) as well as the Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans page (which features a new Past Monarchos fez.) Finally, we bring you a brand new exhibit, featuring the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a Masonic group for men and women.

We thank you for your patience with my updates and responses and We hope you keep on fezzing!

Nu-wha?!?

fezcartoonOh my! It’s been quite some time since we’ve updated this site. However, the wait will have been worth it, once you see what we have obtained! We’ve added five new fezzes to the colleciton, so let’s start by taking a look around!

First, we have an addition to the Grotto exhibit, depicting a damanged fez as a point of reference and to act as a cautionary tale to others.

Next, we’ve added another Kremlin Sodak fez to our Imperial Order of Muscovites collection. This group remains one of our research focuses and we’re happy to have been able to add another example to the exhibit.

Also updated is the Oriental Order of Humility and Perfection area, which now contains a non-bullion example of a basic members fez. All of the fezzes in this section are at least 90 years old, making it one of our most delicate exhibits.

Following that, we have added something to the collection that may not be a fez at all – a Moose Tah! We’ll let you check it out and be the judge. It has a tassel, lacks a brim, and is a hat – but does that make it a fez? Let us know what you think!

Finally, we come to our big acquisition. We’ve managed to finally add a Nuwaubian fez to our collection. The Nuwaubian movement has gained much notoriety and has been labeled as a rascist organization, but their use of the fez (especially from a fraternal standpoint) continues to bring them to our attention.

We hope you enjoy these updates. As always, we are continuing to add fezzes to our collection as we find them. Thanks for reading!

Happy Fez-giving!

fezguysToday, we find ourselves one day away from the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States. As we look towards the oncoming holiday season, we wanted to take a moment and update the museum with a few new acquisitions in a token of thanks to our readers.

We’ll start by sharing our new exhibit on the Royal Order of Jesters, an organization tied to the Shriners. The fez we have obtained from this group may not really be a fez at all, but it’s full of character. Once you’ve had your fill of Mirth, we’ll direct your attention over to the Fraternal Order of Eagles exhibit, where we are now displaying one of the rarest fezzes in the collection – a white fez that belonged to a Past Grand Worthy President. Lastly, we’ve added a new Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan fez, which once belonged to a District Deputy Imperial Prince.

We hope that you enjoy this update! Rest assured, we will continue to add pieces to the collection as we find them. Keep the spirit of fraternalism alive and well this holiday season and have a safe and healthy new year!

Feztember!

fezbentoAs September rolls along, we realized that we had a backlog of new pieces to post to the musuem for you to enjoy.

First up is a mystery fez, of green color, with some curious designs on it. This was a private purchase and we have no idea what group it belongs to. Take a look and see if you can shed any light on it!

Next, we have a National Order of Alley Cats fez, just in time for Halloween. It’s an interestingly designed fez that harkens to an earlier era with kitschy charm.

Lastly, is a Caliphs of Bagdad fez. The group this fez hails from has confounded even the National Heritage Museum. While the fez itself isn’t a mystery, the group sure is. If you happen to have any information, send us a message so we can enlighten the rest of the world!

We hope you enjoyed these updates. Keep checking back, as we’re always adding to the collection!
